Developed by COPT and designed by OVS landscape architects, The Thaddeus Stevens School is a historic African American school building. Originally used for African American studies as part of a racially segregated public school system in the West End neighborhood of Washington, D.C. it now serves as a child development center for infants and toddlers. ribbit was retained for its expertise in custom fabrication of specialty type projects which require a particular material finish and fabrication methods necessary to elevate a brand in the build environment. Partnering with local artist, Oxman Studios, for its monument work and contemplative art style, as well as friend of many years, we handled the planning, engineering, lighting, and fabrication logistics for a flawless installation of this commemorative sculpture that captures the ‘humble tribute to the late Thaddeus Stevens…’
